Of course, 7 rogues + one regular is always the best, but probably out of reach for you. They're harder to give a blow by blow for, though. You may also try experimenting with only spearfighters they're cheap, fast to produce, and should be adequate to the task, if used properly. For the second wave, repeat, only now staying out of reach of the spearfighters. You need to take out the horsemen first, while staying out of reach of the slingers, then take out the slingers. You'll definitely want to use both the Tavern boost and a boost from inventory. There's a third option, using only stone throwers. You can wipe everyone out with your second turn. The last will injure one of your horsemen, then you'll take it out.įor the second wave, you let the 2 enemy horsemen and 2 of the enemy spearfighters attack your rogues, staying out of reach of the third enemy spearfighter. Now you'll loose 2 horsemen to the enemy slingers, leaving you with 2 horsemen and 4 converted rogues. Take out the enemy horsemen with your horsemen. You may want to preserve your rogues in that case, move your converted rogues (they'll be horsemen) out of reach of the enemy slingers. The enemy slingers won't be able to do anything on their turn. The enemy horsemen will attack your rogues, and loose half their health points. Hold the horsemen back, and move the rogues just within reach of the enemy horsemen, outside the reach of the enemy slingers. In that case, I recommend going with horsemen of your own. If they're "mean" enough to make it impossible to stay out of reach while attacking the horsemen, try again they won't always be.įor the second wave, you do the same: take out the horsemen first, staying out of reach of the spearfighters, then take out the spearfighters. The slingers won't do any damage on their turn, since you're out of reach. Boosted, 8 slingers should make short work of 4 horsemen. Attack the horsemen first, while keeping your slingers outside the range of the enemy slingers. Hover the mouse to see the reach of enemy units. You'll need to stay outside of reach as much as possible, which is easier on the Web client. If you need 3, you'll have to get Zeus up and running.įirst, if you're going with only slingers, get to a proper PC, if you're not already at one. Preferably, you should need only 2 attacks on an enemy unit to take it out. To compensate, you may want to use both the Tavern boost and an inventory boost. Near the end that's when the slingers took out my catapult and damaged one of my knights by 50%.Caveat: It's been a while since I fought without any boost from buildings I may be overestimating your troops slightly. After all slingers have between 1 and 3 health remaining, I killed the rest of them off, one at a time, in a specific order, most healthy to least healthy. You can sort of see what damage you are about to do by hovering over each opponent with the mouse, before making each decision/step because the numbers appear to tell you roughly the amount of damage that will occur. I used the strategy of always attacking the least damaged slingers first, but not killing them. The choice of units turned out good because they move great distance before the slingers know what hit them. I was careful not to use my knights on the enemies that were in the plains because I didn't want to kill them on the first blow. My opponents mostly headed for the rocks where they would get defense bonuses. My strategy was to stay completely out of range on the first round of all 8 slingers and then using the suggested strategy of damaging as many slingers as possible ASAP without killing any of them on the next rounds. I would have used 8 fast units but I didn't have enough so I used 1 catapult also. This means 7 of my units were fast units with movement between 22 and 24 and those 7 also have attack bonuses against ranged units (barbarian slingers are ranged units). I used 3 HMA knight units, 4 EMA heavy cavalry, and one EMA catapult. At this time I am in the high middle ages (HMA) and I do not have any bonuses from great buildings. The unit I lost was an early middle ages (EMA) catapult. I defeated 8 barbarian slinger units in steilsturz today and I lost one unit so I'll share my story of how this thread helped me.
